Biography

Thirteen-year-old Aimee hails from the small village of Moycullen, in County Galway, the heart of the Gaeltacht (the country’s Irish-speaking region).

Aimee was recently awarded first place for the International Vocal Competition “American Protege” and will have the honour of performing in Carnegie Hall on December 19th. This year alone she has secured eight National Titles at Ireland’s prestigious Classical Festival Feis Ceoil 2015 and was also awarded Overall Vocalist Award and Bursary 2015 for Midlands Feis Ceoil in June. She has also recorded her first cd “My Classical Spirit” and donated the proceeds to “Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice”.

Aimee is in second year in Coláiste na Corribe, she is one of three children. Her dream is to be the next Maria Callas and perform on the world stage. She loves Maria’s story and what she gave to classical music. This entry is particularly special to Aimee, as her Nana who passed away last April, had helped her with it at the beginning stages, she was also her biggest fan!

Aimee can sing in six different languages and her favourite band is Hometown. She is so happy to have gotten this far. Eurovision has always been a family fun night in her house, she never dreamed she’d be a part of it and be representing Ireland. She is hoping to do everyone proud in Sofia in November.

Lyrics:

Irish

Tá sé an-fhuar anocht
Leis an ngaoth lenár ndroim
Le hádh ar ár dtaobh
Téim abhaile go beo
Tríocha céim mhóra, idir neamh agus céas
Tá an long chabhlaigh láidir ach níl tú in ann a rá

Deprofondis Ave Maris Stella
Áit éigin, lá éigin
Trasna na farraige móire
Trí ghála láidir
Cuirfimid chun farraige
Iompar ar ais chugat mé

Tosaigh an ghaoth chun báis
Tá an fharraige séimh
Leis na réaltaí an geal ó na soilsí ó thuaidh

Deprofondis Ave Maris Stella
Áit éigin, lá éigin
Trasna na farraige móire
Trí ghála láidir
Cuirfimid chun farraige
Iompar ar ais chugat mé
AHH Iomar ar ais chugat mé

Beidh mé ar ais ar na mara
Réalta na mara mo ghrá

Áit éigin, lá éigin
Trasna na farraige móire
Trí ghála láidir
Cuirfimid chun farraige
Iompar ar ais chugat mé
AHH Iomar ar ais chugat mé

English

It’s so cold tonight
But the wind is at our back
With luck on our side
We’ll get home alive
A thirty foot swell
Between Heaven and Hell
The ship’s hull is strong
Though you never can tell

bridge
Out of the depths
Hail Star of the sea

Chorus
Somewhere someday
Across the wide open blue
Through a strong gail
We set sail
Carry me away back to you

The wind starts to die
Waves begin to subside
Shimmering sky
From the Northern Lights

Chorus
Somewhere someday
Across the wide open blue
Through a strong gail
We set sail
Carry me away back to you

Bridge II
I will return on the Sea
Star of the Sea my love

Chorus
Somewhere someday
Across the wide open blue
Through a strong gail
We set sail
Carry me away back to you
