Biography

Samra Rahimli is an up-and-coming Azerbaijani singer. Her foray into the music industry began at 16 when she took part in the national selection for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. After impressing audiences as the youngest contestant Samra enrolled at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

Samra returned to the spotlight in 2015, when she reached the quarterfinals in The Voice of Turkey. When The Voice came to Azerbaijan in 2015, her performance of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ballduring a blind audition amazed the audience. Samra reached the competition’s final.

Samra’s singing influences are Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and Beyoncé. She dreams to land a lead role in her favorite musicalDreamgirls.

Now Samra is concentrating all her efforts on the Eurovision Song Contest. Her entry is called Miracle and despite the fairytale-like title is a dramatic break-up story. “I’ve been through the similar experience once,” explains Samra, “It’s never easy to let someone go but you have to stay strong and keep moving.”
