My inspiration is my family, my friends, my everyday life, and activities”. Exclusive InterviewESC+Plus: Hello Nicole! First of all, thank you so much for giving us this interview as Cypriot representative at Junior Eurovision 2017 and congratulations on having been selected to perform in Tbilisi! How did you receive the proposal to represent Cyprus? How did you feel at that time? Did you expect it? Nicole Nicolaou: Hello everyone! It was always my dream to participate in JESC. Last year I didn’t get a chance to win the competition in Cyprus. This year I was internally selected by CyBC with the song I Wanna Be A Star by Constantinos Christoforou. Well, how I felt at that moment? – Crazy happy and excited. Maybe I didn’t expect but I always hoped and dreamed about it and my wish came true. E+: Can you tell us what your song is about? What is the thing you most like of ‘I Wanna Be A Star’? NN: My song is about young people that need to believe in themselves for anything they want to achieve. It’s not about being a Star in the music; it’s about being a Star in any activity they choose. I like the dance and energetic mood of the song. E+: You recently released an official video to premiere your song. How was the shooting of the clip? Were there any funny anecdotes you can tell us? NN: The shooting was really great, full of fun. Our group was quite big and we spent a lovely time together joking and laughing. The funny moment was when I slipped and fell into the icy water of the waterfall. My shoes got wet and we continued staying barefoot as you can see in the video. E+: Have you already decided how you stage performance will look like? How about the costume? NN: Everything is arranged for our stage appearance in JESC 2017 by our professional team working hard in Cyprus under the guidance of our Artistic Director and choreographer Mrs. Antigoni Tasouri. I assure you it will be a wonderful performance. E+: What do you feel while singing on stage? Do you carry any lucky charms during your performances? NN: When lots of eyes are on me I feel a sense of responsibility to make everything right, and respect the audience that has come to see me. I’m of course nervous before I enter on stage, and probably the first steps I take on stage – but once I start singing I feel that’s where I’m supposed to be! I feed on the energy the audience gives me. Yes, I have a small lucky charm that brings me luck. E+: Have you ever imagined yourself on the Junior Eurovision stage? NN: Yes, since the age of 5, this was the moment when I started watching JESC. E+: Tell us more about yourself, your favourite music style, favourite school subject, hobbies, musical career…. NN: I’m 13 years old, I live in Limassol. For the past 4 years, I’m doing my vocal lessons and playing piano for 2 years. I like music a lot and drawing. Art is my favourite subject. My hobbies are drawing, hiking, wakeboard. I like to listen to electro and pop music. I know that I always will be singing but would like to try myself also in chemistry. E+: Do you usually watch the senior Eurovision? If you had to choose a Cypriot artist to compete at the contest, who would you choose? NN: I’m always watching both Junior and Senior Eurovision and for the competition, I would choose my vocal coach Mrs. Aliki Chrysochou, with her beautiful Soprano voice. She’s experienced on stage worldwide. E+: What are you most looking forward to doing in Georgia? NN: I’m looking forward to meeting the other participants, making friends with them, singing with them, having fun with them and sightseeing Georgia when we have time. E+: Could you send a message to our readers and fans of the competition? NN: Never stop dreaming because there is a Star out there for each one of you. Love you All!!! |
